US aircraft manufacturing giant sets up technology center in Turkey

Boeing which has been operating in Turkey for 70 years has decided to take a giant step by committing to contribute to the growth of the Turkish aerospace industry in line with the country’s 2023 vision and promote cooperation between Turkey and the United States. Experts in the sector have pointed out that this initiative by shows Boeing’s full confidence in the Turkey’s economy and the aviation sector. Referred project was announced during President Erdogan’s US visit in September. The details regarding the issue were unveiled by ISPAT President Mr. ERMUT at a conference hosted by the Undersecretary for Defense Industries.

Mr. ERMUT said that the initiative would support the growth of the Turkish aviation industry in line with the vision of the country’s 2023 and promote cooperation between Turkey and the United States. He added “One thing needs to be clearly understood: The impact and added value of this initiative will be much stronger than the investment in a traditional factory. We pay attention to technology transfer, generation of employment and export-oriented production.  Thus, our target which is to acquire technology transfer is to be achieved via technology, engineering, and R&D investments Boeing commits to accomplish within the project”.

Within the scope of the initiative, Boeing plans to expand its activities in Turkey by establishing the Aviation Industry Development Program and centers to be initiated by the company under the auspices of the Undersecretary of Defense Industry of Istanbul. Also the company will be setting up centers such as “Engineering and Technology Development Center” and “Regional Flight Training Center” etc.
