White House makes statement about telephone call between Trump & Erdoğan

The White House has announced that US President Donald Trump have once again confirmed the partnership between the United States and Turkey and that the leaders have discussed the purchase of military equipment from the United States. The US Embassy in Ankara has published an information note on its official Twitter account, regarding the telephone conversation between President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and US President Donald Trump.

The message said:

“US President Donald Trump has conducted a telephone conversation with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan today. President Trump has once again confirmed the strategic alliance between the United States and Turkey, particularly in combating terrorism and strengthening regional stability.

Regarding Syria, the two leaders have talked about the importance of supporting the UN-led Geneva process for the implementation of UN Security Council resolution 2254 and the peaceful settlement of civil war in this country. President Trump and President Erdogan have emphasized the need to put an end to the crisis, allow the displaced Syrians to return to their homes and to ensure stability of a united Syria free of malicious interventions and territories hosting terrorists.

To be consistent with our previous policy, President Trump has informed President Erdogan about the pending arrangements for military assistance to the associates on the ground in Syria, as well as issues such as “the completion of the fight in Rakka, the progress towards stabilization stage to ensure ISIS does not return”.
