6 agreements signed after meeting between President Erdoğan and Kuwaiti Emir Meşal el-Ahmed el-Cabir es-Sabah

During the meeting between President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Kuwaiti Emir Meşal el-Ahmed el-Cabir es-Sabah, the economic and commercial relations between the two countries were discussed along with Israel’s attacks on Gaza. Six agreements were signed between the two countries.

According to the statement made by the Presidency of Communications, following the one-on-one and delegation-level meetings between President Erdoğan and es-Sabah at the Presidential Complex, detailed discussions were held on the economic and commercial relations between the two countries during the visit, which coincided with the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Turkey and Kuwait.

In the meeting, steps taken in various fields from defense industry to the Development Road Project were evaluated, and measures to increase the trade volume between the two countries to $5 billion were discussed.

During the meeting, it was emphasized that reviving the Joint Economic Commission Mechanism between Turkey and Kuwait was necessary to promote mutual investments and trade, which would benefit both countries.

Discussions were also held on cooperation between the two countries in diplomacy, health, culture, tourism, and education fields.

President Erdoğan emphasized that Turkey’s support for Kuwait’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and security would continue, and contacts at every level would be maintained tightly.

Among the agenda items of the meeting were Israel’s attacks on innocent Palestinian people in Gaza.

Erdoğan pointed out the importance of enhancing cooperation between the Gulf Cooperation Council and the Turkish Council of States, stating that Kuwait’s support for these efforts was crucial and would ensure the opening of new opportunities.

During the ceremony, 6 memoranda of understanding were signed between the two countries. A memorandum of understanding was signed between the Presidency of the Republic Investment Office and the Kuwait Investment Authority to establish cooperation in promotional activities.

A memorandum of understanding on cooperation in free zones was signed between the Ministry of Trade’s Directorate General of Free Zones and the Kuwait Direct Investment Promotion Authority.

With the signed agreements, cooperation was established in the field of housing welfare and infrastructure between the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change and the Kuwait Ministry of Housing Affairs.

A protocol on the implementation of defense industry procurement contracts between states was signed between the Ministry of National Defense and the Presidency of Defense Industries of the Republic of Turkey and the Ministry of Defense of Kuwait.

Cooperation in disaster and emergency management was established with the memorandum of understanding between the Ministry of Interior’s Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency and the Kuwait Ministry of Interior’s General Directorate of Civil Defense.

An agreement was signed between the Foreign Ministries of Turkey and Kuwait to establish a joint strategic dialogue.
