The magnesium and chip crisis, problems in raw materials and logistics, as well as problems in the supply of zero (new) vehicles, have also hit rental companies. As there were not enough cars, companies have started to eliminate their customers. Companies supply vehicles to customers who pay on time and give better prices. Experts say the problem will most likely last throughout 2022.

After new vehicles fell on the black market in the hands of traders, it is noted now, there are no rental cars available. Some individual and corporate sellers who wanted to take advantage of the rise in the exchange rates had started to buy new vehicles to sell them more expensive than original prices on the second-hand market, after waiting for prices go up. In particular, vehicles worth over 300 thousand TL to 450 thousand TL were quickly sold out and could not be found. This situation continued until an investigation was launched by the public prosecutor’s offices in various provinces.

General Manager of a prominent car manufacturer told SOZCU newspaper that the problem with zero vehicles also affected rental vehicles for reasons.

COMPANIES PREFER CUSTOMERS WHO PAY BETTER PRICES AND ON TIME

The GM said “When zero vehicles could not be found, companies shifted their weight to retail customers. Therefore, the share allocated to fleets (companies buying for fleets) has decreased.” He said that one of the reasons for this was that the “retail customer is more attractive.” He went on to say, “when there were not enough vehicles, the companies have preferred to eliminate customers. They supply cars to customers who pay on time and give better prices.”

THE PROBLEM WILL CONTINUE IN 2022

He pointed out that this problem, which occurred because the problems with zero vehicle supply also affected fleet companies, would continue this year, as well.
