Airbus has requested that its A320 and A321 aircraft models be temporarily grounded due to a newly identified safety risk. Turkish Airlines (THY) and AJet both released official statements confirming the action and assuring passengers that operations continue safely.
Airbus Issues Warning, Requests Protective Measures
Working together with aviation authorities, Airbus asked airlines worldwide to ground their A320neo and A321neo fleets so that required software and hardware protections can be activated.
Turkish Airlines’ Communications Director, Yahya Üstün, confirmed that Airbus issued an Operator Alert Telex (AOT) affecting all A320-type aircraft globally. Üstün stated that 8 A320 aircraft in THY’s fleet fall under this directive.
He noted that once all required procedures are completed in accordance with Airbus instructions, these aircraft will safely return to service.
THY: “Passenger Safety Is Our Top Priority”
Üstün shared the statement on his social media account, emphasizing that THY continues to follow instructions from global aviation authorities—primarily EASA.
He added:
“Our 8 A320 aircraft have been assessed within this scope. After carrying out the required actions, they will be returned to service safely. All our operations continue smoothly and safely. We closely follow the directives of EASA and other authorities and work in full coordination with Airbus to apply the necessary software updates. Passenger safety is always our number-one priority.”
AJet: Operations Will Resume After Required Actions
AJet Spokesperson Mehmet Yeşilkaya also confirmed that aircraft in their fleet were temporarily withdrawn from service due to the Airbus notification.
He said: “Airbus has issued an Operator Warning for A320 aircraft. As AJet, where flight safety is always our top focus, the 7 aircraft in our fleet affected by this directive will resume operations once the required procedures are completed. We are closely following instructions from EASA and other aviation authorities while coordinating with Airbus for the necessary software updates. This process does not impact our operational schedule. Our flights continue safely.”
