Tourism industry representatives in Antalya have announced Antalya hotels are completely full in August and until mid-September and some hotels do not even have empty pillows left. After two years of pandemic incident, there is an influx of both foreign and domestic tourists in Antalya.

Sector professionals have shared that September August bookings are completely full, especially in five-star and deluxe hotels and that the occupancy continues until mid-September meaning it is very difficult to find a place.

The number of foreign tourists has exceeded 7 million

As of the end of July, 6 million 711 thousand foreign tourists arrived in Antalya by air alone in 7 months, an increase of 97 percent compared to the same period last year. As of August 4, the total number of foreign visitors reached 7 million 12 thousand.

80-90 thousand entries per day

A tour operator who conducted a research on tourism mobility in the city by interviewing more than 50 hotels, noted that daily entries in Antalya amounted to 80-90 thousand. Same person said following as well: “August is a very busy time for arrivals from abroad, with the participation of local holidaymakers, Antalya hotels are especially full in August. There is a serious intensity from the European, Russian, Middle Eastern, Scandinavian markets. We see that 5-star, ‘deluxe’ hotels cannot offer quotations even for September.”

Excessive demand is being shifted to the Aegean region

Explaining that many hotels were trying to solve the demands that could not be met due to the density by redirecting them to other regions, the professional said “Antalya hotels are currently facing the density that is approaching that in 2019. Kundu, Lara, Belek, Side are the first spots to be fully booked in Antalya. Then there is a distribution towards Alanya, Kemer and the Aegean. The availability of hotels in Antalya also determines the state of the Aegean.”

There are intensive arrivals from 40-50 countries

Stating that this year they had encountered a portfolio with a very different, very large market diversity for the first time, the pro said, “Germany is leading, especially with the start of holidays in Europe, but countries such as the UK, Poland, Romania have contributed significantly to the last two months. Entries from Russia have also crossed 1 million, heading towards 2 million. There are busy arrivals from 40-50 countries, our market has become very diverse. In other words, the absence of one of the countries does not seem to affect Antalya’s fate much. The always-talked-about event of increasing market diversity is happening very clearly this year.”
