With the heavy snowfall starting to affect Istanbul again, many students are eagerly waiting for news about possible school closures. People are increasingly searching for updates on whether schools will be closed due to the weather.
As of now, schools in Istanbul are still open, and there has been no official announcement from the Istanbul Governor’s Office regarding a snow day. The Governor’s Office made a statement based on the General Directorate of Meteorology’s evaluations. According to this, the city has entered a period of cold and rainy weather. Due to the cold temperatures, rain is expected to turn into mixed snow and snow in some areas of the city, especially in the western (Çatalca and Silivri), northern (Arnavutköy, Eyüp, Başakşehir, Sancaktepe, Beykoz, Sarıyer, Çekmeköy, and Şile) and high-altitude areas.
On February 11, 2025, it is expected that the mixed rain will turn into snow and continue until Wednesday, February 12, with heavier snowfalls throughout Istanbul. However, no official announcement has been made yet regarding school closures.
Regarding the last snow day in Istanbul, there have been instances of school closures in the past due to heavy snowfalls, but there is no specific date mentioned in the news.
