In the US, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump was injured in his right ear during a campaign rally in Pennsylvania when explosions resembling gunshots occurred while he was speaking on stage.
Footage shared on social media shows Trump speaking at the podium in Butler, Pennsylvania, when approximately seven gunshot-like explosions were heard. Following the first explosion, Trump was seen holding his right ear. As the explosions continued, security guards jumped onto the stage and surrounded Trump.
The explosions caused panic among the rally attendees. Before the security guards could take him off the stage, Trump was seen raising his fist in the air, with blood flowing from his right cheek. Amid the ongoing panic at the rally site, the guards swiftly escorted Trump to his armored vehicle.
In his first statement after the incident, Trump said, “I am fine and undergoing a medical examination.” Trump’s spokesperson Steven Cheung made a statement about the incident during the campaign rally. Cheung said, “President Trump thanks the guards and first responders who acted quickly during this heinous act. He is fine and being checked at a local medical facility. More details will follow.”
The shooter and one person at the scene were killed. Butler District Attorney Richard Goldinger provided information about the incident. Goldinger said, “During the attack that occurred during the campaign rally, the shooter and one person at the scene were killed.”
US Secret Service spokesperson Anthony Guglielmi stated that the attack on former US President Donald Trump during his campaign in Pennsylvania was carried out from outside the rally area.
