The CEO of Istanbul Airport shared corona virus measures to be taken in the terminal. He noted that passengers would inform at the airport, the addresses of the places they would reside after the flight. While explaining concerned measures the CEO also said it would be obligatory to use masks and gloves and disinfecting foot mats would be placed at entrances to ensure virus is not transmitted via shoes.

The CEO gave an interview to the press and answered questions about domestic flights scheduled to open on May 28 and the corona virus measures to be taken at airports. He went on to say following:

“Our airport is currently conducting evacuation flights. There were 12 evacuation flights yesterday, and our cargo flights are continuing without interruption. Istanbul airport is scheduled to open for domestic flights on the 28th after Ramadan.

Ventilation is very important in the fight against the Corona virus. From day one, we have provided a hundred percent fresh air in our airport.

There is no proven evidence that the corona virus is transmitted while breathing and we know that it is transmitted by droplets. Specialists say wearing a mask is necessary to prevent it. Anyone entering the terminal has to wear a mask. In the terminal the mask needs to be constantly on, otherwise such persons will be warned.

Our staff who are in too much contact with customers, will wear visors along with masks. Some will wear gloves. Thermal systems will be used at every point.

Each passenger needs to know his / her health status. Passengers shouldn’t come to the airport if they have corona virus symptoms.

Arriving at the airport will be as on normal schedule. Social distance alerts exist all over the area.

We will see to it that passengers will move in the airport in accordance with Kovid-19 rules. We will also have a hygiene team running around the area”.
