Weather Alert from Meteorology
The Turkish State Meteorological Service has released its latest forecast, warning that a cold weather front is approaching. Across much of the country, temperatures are expected to drop by 2 to 4 degrees, especially in central and eastern regions. While western Turkey will remain relatively stable, rainfall and even snow are on the way for many parts of the country.
The forecast indicates widespread cloud cover and rainfall across Marmara, the Mediterranean, the Black Sea, and eastern regions, with snowfall expected at higher altitudes in the Eastern Anatolia and Eastern Black Sea regions.
Strong Rainfall and Snowfall Warnings
Meteorologists have issued a strong rain warning for Niğde, Kayseri, Sivas, Samsun, Giresun, and Ordu. Residents are urged to stay alert against possible flooding, slippery roads, and transportation disruptions.
In higher areas of Eastern Anatolia and the inner parts of the Black Sea region, snow mixed with rain and local snow showers are expected. These conditions may affect transportation and daily life, particularly in mountain passes and rural roads.
Istanbul, Antalya and Muğla Under the Weather Spotlight
In Istanbul, skies will be mostly cloudy with light rain expected during the morning and early afternoon. Temperatures will hover around 17°C, with mild northern winds. Commuters should be prepared for a gray, occasionally wet day.
Further south, Antalya will experience cloudy and rainy conditions, particularly in the afternoon. Temperatures will reach around 23°C, but humidity and intermittent rainfall could make it feel cooler.
Meanwhile, in Muğla and other southwestern provinces, weather conditions will remain partly cloudy with stable temperatures around 18–20°C. Although no major rainfall is expected, the region will feel the cooler air moving in from the north.
Across the Regions
In the Aegean, skies will remain partly cloudy with no major precipitation expected. Izmir and Denizli will enjoy mild weather, while Afyonkarahisar may feel a chill in the evenings.
Central Anatolia will see cloudy skies and rain in its southern and eastern parts, including Niğde, Kayseri, and Sivas, where rainfall could be locally heavy.
In the Black Sea region, widespread rain is expected, and the inner highlands may see a mix of rain and snow, particularly in Giresun, Ordu, and Samsun.
The Eastern Anatolia region will experience a mix of rain and snow in the north, especially around Erzurum and Kars, while Malatya and Bingöl will see heavy rain.
Southeastern Anatolia, including Diyarbakır and Gaziantep, will have cloudy skies with showers in the afternoon and evening.
Stay Prepared for the Week Ahead
As the cold front moves in, meteorologists advise residents to dress warmly, drive cautiously, and follow local weather updates. The sudden temperature drop and regional snowfall may signal the start of the winter season in parts of Turkey.
