Starting tomorrow, THY will operate flights from Istanbul to Sydney with a stopover in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Turkey’s Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Abdulkadir Uraloğlu, provided details about Turkish Airlines’ new flights to Australia and Chile.
THY to Begin Flights to Australia and Chile
Uraloğlu announced that Turkish Airlines (THY) will begin flights to Sydney, Australia, and Santiago, Chile, with four weekly flights to each destination. He noted that discussions with several countries, including Malaysia, were held to set up stopovers for these flights.
Flights to Sydney via Kuala Lumpur
Starting tomorrow, THY will operate flights from Istanbul to Sydney with a stopover in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. This follows the airline’s recent launch of Melbourne flights earlier this year. Uraloğlu stated that after a 70-minute stop for refueling in Kuala Lumpur, the flights will continue to Sydney. These flights will operate on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, departing Istanbul at 13:15 and arriving in Sydney at 16:30 the following day. The return flight from Sydney will depart at 20:40 and arrive in Istanbul at 10:15 the next day.
THY’s First Flights to Chile
Starting December 18, 2024, Turkish Airlines will begin its first-ever flights to Santiago, Chile, with a stopover in São Paulo, Brazil. These flights will also operate four times a week (Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday), with departures from Istanbul at 20:35 and arrivals in Santiago at 09:45. Return flights will depart Santiago at 11:40 and arrive in Istanbul at 11:20.
With the addition of these new destinations, THY’s flight network will expand to 349 points, including Sydney, which currently connects to 348 locations.
