Van breakfast, known for its naturalness and reflecting the culture of the city, was given a Geographical Indication Registration Certificate.
After Van’s famous herb cheese, famous Van Breakfast was also given a ‘Geographical Indication Registration Certificate’. Van Yuzuncu Yıl Üniversitesi (Centenary University) Strategy Development Department applied to the Turkish Patent and Trademark institution about 2 years ago for breakfast with 20 different products specific to the van region that appeal to both the eye and the stomach.
Prof. Dr. Peyami Battal’s (former rector) work in this direction was concluded and the document was obtained. Prof. Battal explained that work carried out for the registration of said breakfast resulted positively. He said, “During my service as Rector here, we made concerned application which I followed closely. Now we have received the Geographical Indication certificate for Van breakfast.”
The professor went on to say, “On this occasion I would like to thank the president of the Turkish Patent and Trademark Association, our governor who always supported us, and also my friend the rector of the university. It is a privilege to work for Van.”
