Diesel prices in Turkey are expected to increase by 4.62 lira per litre from September 17. If the anticipated rise goes ahead, diesel will cost more than 100 lira per litre in Istanbul, Ankara and Izmir.
Diesel Price Increase Expected from September 17
According to industry sources, the price of diesel is expected to rise by 4.62 lira per litre from Thursday, September 17.
The increase is being attributed to rising global oil prices, which continue to affect fuel prices in Turkey. Diesel was last increased by 6.59 lira per litre.
If the latest increase takes effect, diesel prices are expected to reach 100.22 lira per litre in Istanbul’s European side and 100.08 lira on the Asian side.
In Ankara, the price is expected to reach 101.37 lira per litre, while diesel in Izmir could rise to 101.64 lira.
Current Fuel Prices in Turkey
The following are the current petrol, diesel and LPG prices reported for the main cities before the expected increase.
Istanbul – European Side
Petrol is currently selling at 80.26 lira per litre, diesel at 95.60 lira and LPG at 34.99 lira.
Istanbul – Asian Side
Petrol costs 80.12 lira per litre, diesel 95.46 lira and LPG 34.39 lira.
Ankara
Petrol is priced at 81.25 lira per litre, diesel at 96.75 lira and LPG at 35.09 lira.
Izmir
Petrol costs 81.52 lira per litre, diesel 97.02 lira and LPG 34.99 lira.
The expected diesel price increase would push the cost of filling up a vehicle higher across all four locations.
