Ekrem İmamoğlu’s First Statement After His Diploma Was Revoked
Ekrem İmamoğlu’s university diploma, which he obtained 35 years ago, has been revoked. İmamoğlu gave his first response to the decision, stating that the decision was unlawful. In a live broadcast on his social media account at 19:50, he emphasized the unlawfulness of the decision and said, “They will not be able to anticipate my courage.”

İmamoğlu, the Presidential candidate of the CHP, made the following remarks regarding the revocation of his diploma:
“The decision by the Istanbul University Administrative Board is ILLEGAL. They do not have the authority to make such a decision. Only the Business Administration Faculty Administrative Board has this authority. The days are near when those responsible for this decision will have to answer for it in front of history and justice. The march of our nation, thirsty for justice, law, and democracy, cannot be stopped.”

İmamoğlu spoke during a live stream on his social media account at 19:50, stating:
“Today, we experienced a very interesting event. İmamoğlu’s diploma is being revoked 35 years later, and unlawfully. The University does not have the authority to revoke the diploma.
“The rights that everyone has won are under threat. This mindset threatens our society. They can take away everything from us, our rights to vote, our properties, everything. What they forget is that we no longer have a solution outside the legitimacy that the people will provide.
“There is no democratic competition in a place where there is no rule of law, not even a lawful state. They speak of us at the Ramadan table as if we have done something wrong. They have taken what is not theirs, and to put it frankly, a handful of people are trying to disregard the feelings of the entire nation.”

A lady at the market told me, ‘Why are you upset? They can’t revoke your diploma. If they do, I’ll stand by you.’ I replied, ‘Because of their shamelessness, I can’t say anything.’ If that lady is watching us, I want to say, sadly, they have done it. They have taken what is not theirs. Unfortunately, with the power of the state, the elections that are not legitimate cannot continue like this.
“I will challenge this illegitimate decision in court, but the structure that exists, the pressure from the government, makes me doubtful of fair decisions. We are facing a government that has structured everything this way.”

“The 100 people who signed this decision have destroyed the entire justice system in the country. People live for dignity, honor, and justice. After God, the only thing I truly believe in is our people.
“I will run like a lion, I will never stop. If I have been running until now, I will run a thousand times more. They can’t even imagine my determination and my principles. We will eliminate injustice. The workers will earn what they deserve. Children and young people will no longer have to flee this country.
“I will not give up on this principle. I will not tire or stop. Tomorrow at 14:00, I will be at the opening ceremonies in Maltepe. On March 22, I will be at the Haliç Congress Center. On Sunday, hundreds of thousands will vote. The recipient of what has been done is not Ekrem, but our nation. May God protect this nation. We will work with all our might to create a system that will protect this nation.”
