The dollar started the day at 18.9920 liras and the euro at 20.1440 liras in the Istanbul free market. As of 10.47 am, the dollar exceeded 19 TL. Dollar /TL broke a record by seeing the level of 19.03.
The dollar exchange rate, after starting the day at 18.99, found a daily rise of 0.25 percent breaking a new record. Yesterday, the selling price of the dollar was 18.9860 liras and the selling price of the euro was 20.0090 liras.
The sales price of the euro purchased at 20.1420 liras on the other hand, went upto 20.1440 liras.
Apparently, the government has been trying to do everything, to include sales of billions of dollars so that US dollar rate does not climb above 19 TL. This is accepted as a major success for the government, in the eyes of public (well, at least part supporting current administration).
