Turkey’s tourism sector is experiencing major activity after the Eid al-Adha holiday was extended to nine days. According to sector representatives, around 10 million people are expected to travel during the holiday period, creating an estimated economic movement worth 180 billion Turkish lira.

The sharp increase in demand has directly affected both accommodation and transportation prices, forcing many travelers to reconsider their holiday budgets. Coastal destinations in particular are seeing strong reservation activity ahead of the holiday season.

Tourism Sector Expects 180 Billion TL Economic Activity

The expected travel wave during the Eid holiday is creating significant momentum across Turkey’s tourism industry. According to data from the Turkish Travel Agencies Association (TÜRSAB), approximately 10 million citizens are expected to travel.

This intense movement is pushing road, air, and rail transportation systems close to full capacity. Heavy traffic is especially expected on routes departing from major cities.

Hotel Prices Increase by 25 Percent

Rising operational costs in the tourism industry have also been reflected in holiday pricing. Hotel prices have reportedly increased by around 25 percent compared to the same period last year.

In Turkey, overnight accommodation prices now start from around 1,500 TL per person. In all-inclusive resorts, the average cost for a five-night stay for two people can reach approximately 30,000 TL depending on the location and hotel services offered.

International Holiday Packages Affected by Euro Exchange Rates

For travelers planning to spend the holiday abroad, exchange rates are also driving prices higher.

Bus tours across Europe currently start from around 150 Euros per person, while flight-inclusive holiday packages begin at approximately 450 Euros. Prices vary depending on destination, hotel duration, and tour content.

Coastal Destinations Lead Holiday Demand

Since the holiday period falls in June, Turkey’s coastal regions have become the most popular destinations.

Antalya, Muğla, Aydın, İzmir, and Balıkesir are among the top choices for domestic travelers. Reservations for the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus have also increased noticeably.

Meanwhile, cultural tourism routes such as the Black Sea region, Cappadocia, and GAP tours are attracting strong interest. Travelers looking for nature-focused holidays are increasingly choosing destinations like Sapanca and Afyonkarahisar.

Transportation Systems Face Heavy Holiday Traffic

The expected travel intensity during the Eid holiday is also creating pressure on transportation infrastructure across the country.

Authorities report high occupancy rates on highways, airports, and railway lines, especially on departure days. Officials are advising travelers to make reservations early in order to avoid problems caused by high demand.
