President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has announced a new natural gas discovery in the Black Sea, made by the drilling ship Abdülhamid Han. He stated that approximately 75 billion cubic meters of natural gas have been discovered and that this amount is enough to meet the residential demand for about 3.5 years. He estimated the economic value of the find to be $30 billion.
During the inauguration of the Istanbul Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Training and Research Hospital, President Erdoğan said:
“Our 7th-generation drilling ship Abdülhamid Han began operations at the Göktepe-3 well on March 27, and as of yesterday, those operations were completed. We received the good news from the Göktepe-3 well yesterday.
A new natural gas reserve of 75 billion cubic meters has been discovered. This amount alone is enough to meet the residential gas needs of our country for approximately 3.5 years. Its economic value is estimated at $30 billion.
Until we reach our goal of an energy-independent Türkiye, we will continue on our path without stopping or resting, undeterred by criticism or obstacles.”
