Turkish President’s meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin has finished. Making a statement, Putin has said, “Turkey has become one of the most reliable routes, including Europe, for natural gas shipments from Russia. TurkStream works without any problems.”
President Erdogan met with Russian President Putin as part of his contacts at the 22nd Summit of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. Erdogan and Putin’s closed-to-press meeting took place at the congress center where the summit was held and lasted for 40 minutes.
Noting that there was cooperation between Turkey and Russia in a number of areas, Putin said, “First of all, I would like to thank you again for the contribution that you have made and continue to make to the implementation of the (UN Food Program) food program. De. We hope that a significant part of the Ukrainian grain will go to the poorest countries. This has not been achieved so far.”

Putin said, “Turkey has become one of the most reliable routes for gas shipments from Russia, including to Europe and TurkStream is working smoothly.” He also said that work on the Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant was continuing, and they hoped that the first unit at the plant would be commissioned in 2023.
Explaining that he was aware of President Erdogan’s policy aimed at achieving the best result for the Turkish economy, Putin said, “We cannot ignore that Turkey has very good and rapidly growing economic ties with SCO (Shanghai Cooperation) member countries. We will welcome Turkey’s efforts in this structure in every way.”
25 PERCENT OF THE NATURAL GAS WILL BE PAID IN RUSSIAN RUBLES
Putin said that the agreement on “making 25 percent of payments in Russian rubles for the shipment of Russian gas to Turkey” would also come into force soon.
Stating that the trade volume between Turkey and Russia had also increased, Putin stated that steps could be taken to enable Russian companies to sell their products to world markets through Turkey.
