After the conflict that erupted in Iraq after the decision of the Sadr Group leader Muqtada Sadr to quit politics, the Turkish Foreign Ministry issued a travel warning. In a statement issued by the ministry, citizens were advised to avoid travel to Baghdad except in mandatory cases.
The statement on the subject included the following statements; “Considering that the security situation in Baghdad has begun to deteriorate, it is recommended that our citizens avoid traveling to the mentioned city except in mandatory cases. It would be useful for our citizens who are currently in Iraq to stay away from the areas where mass demonstrations are taking place in Baghdad, to follow additional warnings and announcements that may be made by our Ministry and our Embassy in Baghdad, and to be prudent in terms of their personal security.
