The owner of Grand Kartal Hotel in Bolu Kartalkaya, where 78 people tragically lost their lives in a fire, Halit Ergül, has been sent to court.
A devastating fire broke out at the Grand Kartal Hotel in the Kartalkaya Ski Resort in Bolu, resulting in the deaths of 78 people. While the investigation into the fire continues, the number of people detained has increased to 14. Academics have also been appointed as expert witnesses in the case.
Hotel Owner Halit Ergül Sent to Court
As part of the investigation, two more people were issued arrest warrants, raising the total number of detainees to 14. Nine of those detained have been sent to court. Among those sent to court is Halit Ergül, the owner of the hotel.
Academics Appointed as Expert Witnesses
Additionally, in the course of the investigation, new findings regarding the point of origin of the fire led to the appointment of academic experts. Professors from various faculties of Istanbul Technical University, including the Disaster Management Institute, Faculty of Architecture, Faculty of Electrical-Electronics, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, and Faculty of Civil Engineering, have been appointed as expert witnesses to assist in the investigation regarding fire origin and fire safety in buildings.
