Ahmed Abdulhadi, the head of Hamas’s Political Bureau in Beirut, stated in an interview with Politico that there was a possibility of a second front, indicating that Hezbollah was “preparing for a major war.” He also mentioned that Hamas had not informed its ally, Hezbollah, in advance about the attacks it launched against Israel on October 7, which resulted in the deaths of over 1,400 people.

However, despite this, Abdulhadi emphasized that there was continuous cooperation between Hamas and Hezbollah, with Hezbollah preparing for a significant conflict against Israel in the north, while Hamas aimed to thwart Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s dream of removing Palestinians from Gaza. Abdulhadi stressed that there was strong cooperation between Hamas and Hezbollah, stating: “We have very strong relations with Hezbollah. We were cooperating with Hezbollah before and after the attack on Israel, and now we are in full cooperation.”

“HEZBOLLAH WILL NOT PAY ATTENTION TO THREATS NOT TO ENGAGE IN WAR”

He described Israel’s ground attack on Gaza as one of the key triggers that could draw Hezbollah into a full-scale conflict, saying, “Hezbollah will not pay attention to threats not to engage in the war; it will ignore warnings to stay out of the conflict. Whether Hezbollah wants to enter the war or not will depend on Israel’s audacity and the events on the ground, especially Israel’s attempt to enter Gaza by land.”

Referring to the clashes on the Israel-Lebanon border, Abdulhadi stated, “Hezbollah has shown that it will not sit idle, and the evidence is Hezbollah’s attack on the southern border on its own initiative. Hezbollah says they are preparing for a major war. Hezbollah has made it clear that if the Israelis cross the line, they will launch a full-scale attack on Israel.” Abdulhadi also emphasized that Hezbollah had not shied away from fighting in border clashes.

Regarding civilians and hostages, Abdulhadi highlighted that Hamas had not killed any civilians during the unprecedented attack on southern Israel. He dismissed claims of civilians being killed as “Israeli propaganda used to divert attention from the fact that the Israelis killed thousands of Gaza civilians, a fact that unfortunately the West had become accustomed to.”
