Erdoğan and Trump Witness Landmark Deal in Washington
Following the high-level meeting at the White House between Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and US President Donald Trump, Turkey and the United States signed a Strategic Civil Nuclear Cooperation Memorandum of Understanding.
On behalf of Turkey, the agreement was signed by Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar, in the presence of both leaders.
First Statement from Minister Bayraktar
Minister Bayraktar shared his thoughts after the signing ceremony:
“We have officially launched a new process that will further deepen the historic and multidimensional partnership between Turkey and the United States in the field of nuclear energy by signing the Strategic Civil Nuclear Cooperation Memorandum of Understanding.”
He emphasized that the White House meeting, attended by Erdoğan and Trump, marked the beginning of an era in which nuclear collaboration would become a significant pillar of bilateral relations.
Bayraktar added:
“Together with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and in the presence of our leaders, we signed the memorandum that will strengthen cooperation in nuclear energy. We believe the projects to be carried out under this agreement will create mutual benefits for both countries in the coming period.”
