Transport and Infrastructure Minister Abdulkadir Uraloğlu made a statement regarding the ceiling prices for airline tickets. Uraloğlu emphasized that airline companies were commercial enterprises operating under free market conditions and stated, “The initiation of flights to airports, the addition of new routes, changes in flight times, and the operation of direct or indirect flights are all within the discretion of the airline companies.
Minister Uraloğlu stated that for domestic direct flights, the ticket ceiling price will be applied as 2,000 TL for 80% of the tickets until July 31, and 3,250 TL for the remaining 20% once these tickets are sold. Starting from August 1, the price will be 2,500 TL for 80% of the tickets and 4,000 TL for the remaining 20%.
Uraloğlu noted that if the rights determined by the General Directorate of Civil Aviation were not provided to passengers, ensuring that procedures are carried out in accordance with the regulations, and in cases of cancellations due to technical or operational reasons, airlines were required to compensate passengers. In case of violations of the regulations, administrative fines determined by the Turkish Civil Aviation Law are imposed on the companies.
1413 COMPLAINTS REAGRDING FLIGHT CANCELLATIONS
Minister Uraloğlu reported that as of the end of March this year, there have been 1,413 complaints regarding flight cancellations across Turkey. He pointed out that the implementation of ceiling prices for ticket fees was coordinated by the Ministry.
Uraloğlu emphasized that airline companies were commercial enterprises operating under free market conditions and stated, “The initiation of flights to airports, the addition of new routes, changes in flight times, and the operation of direct or indirect flights are all within the discretion of the airline companies. Airlines determine and request flight times based on their fleet structures, fleet availability, slot times, and connections of aircraft in their fleets.”
Abdulkadir Uraloğlu stated that in case there was a flight application, the applications were evaluated by the Ministry within the framework of the relevant regulations.
