With global climate change, increased awareness of sustainability, wellness and nutrition, the trend of plant-based nutrition seems to be on the rise, as well. Plant-based nutrition, which has recently increased its popularity, is among the most recommended nutritional trends of 2020.

The United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) defines sustainable nutrition as a “nutritious, safe, healthy, ecosystem-preserving, accessible, fair, economically accessible, naturally sourced way of life”. One of the steps that can be taken for sustainable nutrition is to increase the diversity of nutrients, to focus on plant-based foods instead of animal foods and to prevent food waste.

Food engineers point out that healthy eating preference should now turn into a habit regardless of constantly changing trends and add that margarine which is a vegetable-based food is more preferred than animal alternatives, in parallel with these habits.

Adding that plant-based nutrition has become more and more prominent for the ecological health of the world, marbling said, “Plant-Based Nutrition puts all vegetable oils in an even more important position. Interest in products such as olive oil, sunflower oil and corn oil, each of which meets different expectations, is increasing.”
