US President Joe Biden has announced his withdrawal from the candidacy for the upcoming election on November 5.
Making the announcement on social media platform X, Joe Biden stated that although he wished to run for re-election, he believed it would be better for his party and country to focus on his presidential duties for the remainder of his term. In his announcement, where he mentioned he would provide more detailed information in the future, Biden said:
“Although I intend to run for re-election, I believe that stepping back and focusing solely on fulfilling my presidential duties for the remainder of my term is in the best interest of my party and my country. I will speak to the nation in more detail about my decision. For now, let me extend my deepest gratitude to everyone who has worked so hard to see me re-elected.”
Biden also thanked Vice President Kamala Harris for her exceptional partnership. He expressed his gratitude to the American people for their trust and faith, stating, “As long as America remains united, there is nothing it cannot achieve.”
