Turkey’s Statistical Institute, TÜİK, has released its August inflation figures, making the maximum rent increase rate for September clear.
Following the release of the latest Consumer Price Index, or CPI, figures, the official rate that can be applied to residential and commercial rental contracts renewed in September has been determined.
According to TÜİK, consumer prices increased by 1.84 percent in August compared with the previous month. Annual inflation stood at 31.51 percent.
September Rent Increase Rate
The rent increase rate for September has been set at 31.79 percent, based on the 12 month average of the Consumer Price Index.
This means that rents for residential and commercial properties whose contracts are renewed in September can be increased by up to 31.79 percent under the legal calculation. The rate was 31.90 percent in August.
Rent Increases Based on the 12 Month CPI Average
Under Turkey’s current regulations, the maximum legal rent increase is calculated using the 12 month average change in the Consumer Price Index.
Based on the latest TÜİK figures, the legal rent increase ceiling for rental contracts renewed during September 2026 is therefore 31.79 percent.
The new rate will affect both residential and commercial leases when their annual renewal date falls in September.
