A boat carrying about 200 illegal migrants crashed into rocks and sank due to adverse weather conditions off Italy. At least 60 migrants including children lost their lives in the terrible accident. It was stated that the migrants were Iranian, Pakistani and Afghan nationals.
It was stated that lifeless bodies had been found on the shores of the beach resort of Steccato di Cutro in the province of Crotone, while about 50 migrants had been rescued.
It was also shared that dozens of more migrants were still missing in the rough waters, and officials feared the death toll could top 100. At least 80 people had been found alive, the Italian Coast Guard said.
