The motor vehicle tax (MTV) rates for 2024 were announced in the Official Gazette, introducing a substantial increase of 58.46 percent. Additionally, there is a 58.48 percent hike in fees for passports, title deeds (tapu), and duties on mobile phones brought in from abroad.
The Official Gazette’s current issue provides details on fees for legal, notary, tax court, title deed and land registry transactions, consular services, passports, residence permits, work permits, work permit exemptions, visas, ship and port operations, licenses, certificates, diplomas, traffic-related procedures, etc., all of which will see a 58.46 percent increase in fees in 2024.
As a result, the court application fee will range between 195.80 TL and 3,518 TL. Passport fees are set at 1,639 TL for six months, 2,396 TL for one year, 3,912 TL for two years, 5,558 TL for three years, and 7,833 TL for more than three years.
The fixed fee for the usage permission of phones brought in for personal use from abroad, excluding commercial purposes, has increased to 31,692 TL. This fee, which was 6,091 TL at the beginning of 2023, was raised to 20,000 TL mid-year.
Identity cards, driver’s licenses, and passport booklets will also see an increase due to a rise in fees for valuable documents used in official transactions. Consequently, identity cards will cost 130 TL, driver’s licenses 990 TL, and passport booklets 790 TL.
These changes are effective from January 1, 2024. Some of the new prices are as follows: Identity cards 130 TL, passport booklet value 790 TL, driver’s licenses, and driver’s working documents (certificates) 990 TL.
Furthermore, passport fees will also increase by 58 percent with the new year. Accordingly, the one-year passport fee will rise from 1,512 TL to 2,395 TL, the two-year passport fee from 2,469 TL to 3,912 TL, the three-year passport fee from 3,507 TL to 5,557 TL, and the fee for passports exceeding three years will increase from 4,943 TL to 7,832 TL.
