New Traffıc Era in Turkey: AI Radars, Instant Fines, and Massive Penalties

"Share this post on social media, spread the news"

What every driver needs to know RIGHT NOW – Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya just dropped a major update that’s about to transform how traffic rules are enforced across Turkey. From now on, breaking the rules won’t go unnoticed — or unpunished.

Here’s what’s coming:

Meet “Radarsan”: The Smart Traffic Enforcer

Forget everything you know about traditional speed radars. Radarsan is an AI-powered, next-gen radar that does much more than measure speed:

And yes, it’s being rolled out nationwide, especially near schools and hospitals, where traffic fatalities have hit alarming levels.

Why Now? The Stats Are Scary:

Translation? We’re losing lives where we should feel safest — our neighborhoods.

Fines Are Going WAY Up — Here’s How:

Breaking traffic laws is about to get very expensive. Check out these updates:

Red Light Violations

  • 1st: ₺5,000
  • 2nd: ₺10,000
  • 3rd: ₺15,000 + 30-day license suspension
  • Up to ₺80,000 and license cancellation after repeat offenses

Speeding Fines Within City Limits

If you exceed the speed limit inside city areas, here’s what you’ll be paying:

  • Going 6 to 10 kilometers per hour over the limit will result in a 2,000 lira fine.
  • Going 11 to 15 kilometers per hour over will cost 4,000 lira.
  • Going 16 to 20 kilometers per hour over will cost 6,000 lira.
  • Going 21 to 25 kilometers per hour over will cost 8,000 lira.
  • Going 26 to 35 kilometers per hour over will cost 12,000 lira.
  • Going 36 to 45 kilometers per hour over will cost 15,000 lira.
  • Going 46 to 55 kilometers per hour over will cost 20,000 lira.
  • Going 56 to 65 kilometers per hour over will cost 25,000 lira.
  • Going more than 66 kilometers per hour over the limit will result in a 30,000 lira fine.

This is all part of an effort to reduce deadly accidents, especially in neighborhoods, near schools, and in other urban areas where traffic is dense and pedestrian activity is high.

Speeding Fines Outside City Limits

If you’re driving on highways or roads outside city centers, the fines are slightly different:

  • Exceeding the limit by 11 to 15 kilometers per hour will result in a 2,000 lira fine.
  • Exceeding by 16 to 20 kilometers per hour will cost 4,000 lira.
  • Exceeding by 21 to 25 kilometers per hour will cost 6,000 lira.
  • Exceeding by 26 to 30 kilometers per hour will cost 8,000 lira.
  • Exceeding by 31 to 40 kilometers per hour will cost 12,000 lira.
  • Exceeding by 41 to 50 kilometers per hour will cost 15,000 lira.
  • Exceeding by 51 to 60 kilometers per hour will cost 20,000 lira.
  • Exceeding by 61 to 70 kilometers per hour will cost 25,000 lira.
  • Going over by more than 71 kilometers per hour will lead to a 30,000 lira fine.

Even on wide, open roads, the government is putting pressure on drivers to stay within limits to reduce serious crashes.

Instant Notifications with Radarsan

These are not the type of fines you’ll hear about weeks later in the mail. The new radar systems will report violations instantly to the national e-Government system. Drivers will be notified within seconds of the infraction. It’s a real-time response to a real problem.
