Bolu Governorate has announced that 58 of the 130 people who were taken to hospitals after being affected by drinking water in the village of Yuva are being treated. Since July 16, dozens of people have been admitted to the hospital complaining of vomiting and nausea caused by drinking water in the Çaydurt Yuva village area of Bolu. When the cases started to rise, some of them were transferred to other cities, including Ankara.
The previous day, some of the patients were diagnosed with Hemolytic Uremic Syndrome (HUS), which occurs with bloody diarrhea, and is accompanied by anemia and acute renal failure. Eyüp Ertem (49) died yesterday at Ankara City Hospital.
A study was started to clean water sources, especially water tanks; a sample was taken for examination purposes.
As of today, 130 people have been admitted to hospitals in Bolu, the governor’s office said in a written statement. “The treatment of 71 of our citizens has been completed and the treatment of 58 of our citizens is continuing. The treatment processes of citizens are closely and meticulously monitored,” the statement also said.
In the statement, the officials expressed their condolences to the family and loved ones of 49-year-old Eyüp Ertem, who died yesterday in a hospital in Ankara.
