‘Opposition says fine tuning will be of major importance in 2023 election

After the regulation of the ruling Public (Cumhur) Alliance on the distribution of deputies, which removes the effect of the total votes of the alliance, it is discussed what the opposition (Nation’s Alliance / Millet Alliance) will do. According to the Millet alliance, the system in which each party will win deputies according to its strength in the constituencies (polling districts) may be an advantage for newly established parties.

It is impossible for the new system introduced according to the parties, to disband the National Alliance. Because the alliance will first decide on a joint presidential candidate, as well as remove the electoral threshold stress on all parties, included in the alliance.

So, can the FELICITY, Democrat, Future and DEVA Parties, which are likely to join the alliance other than the CHP and the GOOD Party, win deputies with their own lists? The parties are of the opinion that this is possible with “fine workmanship”.

Experts say it would be possible for said parties to exceed the threshold and win deputy seats in the parliament as the county threshold is round 5 percent in Istanbul (98) Turkey (36) and Izmir (28), as well as Bursa (20), Antalya (17), Adana (15), Konya (15), Gaziantep (14), Şanlıurfa (14) Mersin (13), Kocaeli (13), Diyarbakır (12) Hatay (11) Kayseri (10) and Manisa (10).

In addition, the opinion of “the way to win deputies according to the qualifications of the candidate is clear” is also being advocated in cities with fewer than 10 deputies. “The goal we have all adopted is for the opposition to get a majority in parliament” the parties comment adding “We will also find the formula that will ensure this.”
