Delegation Crosses the Border from Diyarbakır to Northern Iraq
The group departed from Diyarbakır, gathering outside the stadium in the Kayapınar district before crossing into Iraq via the Habur Border Gate. Their destination is Sulaymaniyah, where the PKK’s disarmament ceremony is expected to take place. The visit aims to observe the process and show support for this critical step.
Key Figures Among the Delegation
According to reports from NTV, the delegation includes Democratic Regions Party Co-Chairs Çiğdem Kılıçgün Uçar and Keskin Bayındır, along with Halide Türkoğlu, spokesperson for the Women’s Assembly of the Peoples’ Equality and Democracy Party. Also joining are Democratic Alevi Associations Co-Chair Zeynel Kete, Ekin Yeter from the Association of Lawyers for Freedom, as well as journalists, writers, and representatives from several civil society organizations.
As the process unfolds in Northern Iraq, hopes remain high that this move will lead to lasting peace and stability, marking a major turning point in the decades-long conflict.
