Starting from July 14, there will be no cat and dog sales in pet shops. The 1-year transition period granted by the animal protection law adopted last year is expiring. Pet shops will be able to sell cats and dogs through catalogs and the Internet.
With the entry into force of the Animal Protection Law, the sale of animals by exhibiting them in pet shops will be banned from July 14, 2022. After this date, pet sales will be made via the Internet and through the catalog.
Huseyin Gökçe Oak, head of the Wildlife Department of the General Directorate of Nature Conservation and National Parks, said after July 14, inspections would be tightened, and those not complying with the ban would be subject to a fine of TL 2,043 per animal.
