Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IBB) has announced that pets can travel with their owners on public transportation vehicles. IBB, reorganized the conditions to travel with pets in public transportation vehicles by organizing a council with experts of the subject, before 4 October, “World Animal Protection Day”.
Accordingly, owners will be able to travel with guide dogs and dogs below 5 kg, cats and birds on subway, bus and ferry public transport vehicles, all day long. Dogs heavier than 5 kg will not be between 07.00-10.00 and 16.00-20.00.
Dogs will be able to travel with their muzzles and collars, cats will be able to travel with in special bags/cages and birds will be able to travel in their cages.
Those that could harm other passengers when released such as predators, reptiles, arthropods, insects, primates, farm animals and wild birds will not be accepted into stations and public transport vehicles in any way
