Black Sea gas, one of the most important energy projects in the history of Turkey, was delivered to land for the first time at the Filyos Natural Gas Processing Plant. President Erdogan announced two good news at the ceremony. “Natural gas will be free for 1 month in heating, hot water and kitchen for 1 year” the president said.

The natural gas produced in the first phase of the project, in which more than 8 thousand personnel worked on land and 2 thousand at sea, was commissioned with the participation of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

President Erdogan lit the torch at the “Black Sea Gas Commissioning Ceremony”.

Highlights from President Erdogan’s speech are as follows;

Today we are together in Filyos to celebrate two holidays of our country together. Our second holiday is the commissioning of Black Sea gas, which is a historic step on the way to energy independence of our country.

We started our land facility in January 2021. We have reduced the time to make the discovered gas usable, which takes 6-7 years in other parts of the world, to below 3 years at this pace.

“WE WILL MEET 30 PERCENT OF THE NATURAL GAS NEEDS OF OUR COUNTRY FROM HERE”

“The pride of this achievement belongs to the whole of our nation. We will extract 10 million cubic meters of gas per day from the Sakarya Field in the first place, and 40 million cubic meters per day in the following process with the new wells that we will drill. When we reach full capacity, we will be able to meet 30 percent of our country’s needs from here. Our gas reserves in the Black Sea have reached 710 billion cubic meters.”

NATURAL GAS IN RESIDENTIAL BUILDINGS WILL BE FREE FOR 1 MONTH

“We will provide free natural gas for hot water consumption in the homes and kitchens of our citizens for one year. The cost of natural gas required for kitchen and hot water consumption, which corresponds to an average of 25 cubic meters per month, will be reduced from bills for a year. We will not charge for the natural gas consumption of residential buildings throughout Turkey for a month.”
