Russian President Vladimir Putin met with North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un in Pyongyang, announcing the preparation of a document to expand relations between the two countries.
According to the Kremlin, the meeting between Putin and Kim began with a ceremony in the North Korean capital. The discussions continued in an expanded format with the participation of ministers and officials from both countries.
In the public portion of the meeting, Putin highlighted the longstanding friendly and neighborly relations between Russia and North Korea, stating, “Russia and North Korea have been connected for years by solid friendship and good neighborly relations. Our countries’ interactions are based on principles of equality and mutual respect for each other’s interests.”
Putin also expressed appreciation for North Korea’s consistent and unwavering support for Russian policies, including the situation in Ukraine. He emphasized, “We value your consistent and unwavering support for Russian policies, including the issue of Ukraine. Here, I am referring to our fight against the hegemonic and expansionist policies that the US and its allies have been trying to impose on Russia for years.”
