Get ready for another hot week. According to the latest forecast from the Turkish State Meteorological Service, temperatures across the country will continue to hover well above seasonal averages — and in some places, they’ll soar.
No Rain in Sight for Most Regions
Weather expert Abdullah Macit from the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change shared the weekly outlook, noting that most of Turkey would remain dry with clear or lightly clouded skies. The only exceptions are expected in the eastern parts of the Eastern Black Sea region, as well as in eastern Erzurum, Kars, and Ardahan, where some rain is forecast.
South and West to Feel the Heat the Most
The heat is expected to be particularly intense in the southern and western regions. Macit warned that temperatures there will remain 4 to 7 degrees above seasonal norms throughout the week. A slight dip is expected by Wednesday in northwestern parts of the country, where values may drop closer to average.
Blazing Conditions in Major Cities
Don’t expect much relief in the big cities either. Ankara is set to sizzle with temperatures between 33 and 34°C. Istanbul will range from 30 to 32°C, while İzmir will endure extreme heat, with highs between 38 and 41°C.
Fierce Winds in the Northwest
In addition to the heat, residents in the northwestern parts of the country and the North Aegean should brace for strong winds over the next three days. These storms could impact transportation, so caution is advised.
Stay Cool, Stay Safe
With the sun beating down strongest between 11:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., officials are urging people to avoid going outside during those hours unless absolutely necessary. The combination of intense heat and dry conditions raises not just health risks, but also the possibility of wildfires.
