The electricity and natural gas hikes announced by the administration caused citizens to respond with strong negative reaction. Meanwhile the LEFT I(sol) Party announced that it would take actions in Istanbul, Malatya, Antalya and Samsun to protest the hikes. The LEFT-WING Party demands that the hikes be withdrawn, that the 18 percent VAT on utility bills be abolished, and that electricity be free of charge up to 230 kilowatts.
