Latest Weather Forecasts for 14 January 2026
According to the latest assessments by the Turkish State Meteorological Service, weather conditions across Turkey are entering a contrasting phase. While western regions are set to warm up, the east will experience a noticeable drop in temperatures, accompanied by widespread snowfall and strong winter conditions.
Cloud cover will dominate most of the country, with rain and snow affecting large areas from Central Anatolia to Eastern and Southeastern regions. Coastal areas will mainly see rain and sleet, while inland locations should prepare for snowfall. In parts of Hakkari, Şırnak, and eastern Siirt, heavy snow is expected, prompting yellow-level weather warnings.
Western Turkey warms up, eastern regions brace for colder weather
Air temperatures are forecast to rise by 4 to 6 degrees Celsius across western Turkey, bringing a brief sense of relief from winter chill. In contrast, eastern regions will see temperatures drop by 3 to 5 degrees, reinforcing harsh winter conditions. Elsewhere, no major temperature changes are expected.
Winds will generally blow lightly to moderately, but strong and short-lived storms are forecast in the southern Aegean and inland Mediterranean areas, where gusts may reach up to 70 km/h.
Istanbul: cloudy skies with light rain
Istanbul will remain under mostly cloudy skies throughout the day, with light rain expected at intervals. Temperatures will hover around 9°C, keeping conditions relatively mild compared to inland regions. However, early morning and nighttime hours may bring localized frost and icy patches, especially in less urbanized areas.
Muğla: windy but relatively mild
Muğla will experience partly cloudy skies with temperatures around 12°C. While precipitation is not expected, strong northerly winds in the southern Aegean may temporarily reach storm intensity. Residents and travelers should remain cautious, particularly in exposed and elevated areas.
Antalya: calm weather along the coast, strong winds inland
Antalya will enjoy comparatively pleasant conditions, with temperatures reaching up to 17°C under partly to mostly cloudy skies. Coastal areas will remain calm, making the city one of the more comfortable destinations weather-wise. However, inland districts may face strong northeasterly winds and short-lived storms, along with frost risk during nighttime hours.
Warnings remain in effect
Heavy snowfall warnings are in place for parts of southeastern Eastern Anatolia, particularly around Hakkari, Şırnak, and eastern Siirt. These conditions may lead to transportation disruptions, icing, frost, and temporary closures.
Strong wind warnings apply to the southern Aegean and inland Mediterranean regions, where risks include falling trees, roof damage, and disruptions to road travel. In central and eastern parts of the country, nighttime frost, icing, fog, and avalanche risks in high-altitude areas remain a concern.
A day of contrasts across Turkey
From milder, rainy conditions in Istanbul and spring-like temperatures in Antalya to harsh winter weather in eastern provinces, Turkey will experience a striking weather contrast on 14 January 2026. Staying informed and taking precautions, especially in snow-affected and windy regions, will be essential.
