Air temperatures across Turkey are set to remain a few degrees above seasonal averages throughout the week, according to the latest forecast from the Turkish State Meteorological Service.

Meteorology expert Cengiz Çelik said that unsettled weather will continue in parts of the country, particularly in the Inner Aegean region, the inland areas of the Mediterranean, and northeastern Eastern Anatolia. These areas are expected to experience intermittent thunderstorms and heavy showers during the week.

Thunderstorms Expected During Afternoon and Evening Hours

The forecast indicates that most rainfall activity will develop after midday and continue into the early evening hours. Thunderstorms are also expected to spread into Central Anatolia and parts of the Black Sea region on Wednesday and again over the weekend.

While some regions will see periods of rain, large parts of the country are expected to remain dry. Marmara, Southeastern Anatolia, and most coastal areas are forecast to experience little or no rainfall over the next seven days.

Weather Outlook for Ankara, Istanbul and Izmir

Ankara is expected to remain mostly dry, with thunderstorms possible only on Wednesday. Daytime temperatures in the capital are forecast to reach around 28 to 29 degrees Celsius.

Istanbul is expected to enjoy stable and dry weather throughout the week. Temperatures are likely to remain between 27 and 29 degrees Celsius.

Izmir will also see generally dry conditions, although brief showers may develop in inland districts during the afternoon. Temperatures in the city are expected to climb to around 32 to 33 degrees Celsius.

Heavy Rain and Hail Possible in Some Areas

Meteorologists warn that rainfall could become locally heavy at times in the Inner Aegean region, the Lakes District, and around Kars and Ardahan. Residents are advised to monitor official weather updates for any severe weather alerts.

Localized hailstorms may also accompany some of the stronger thunderstorms, particularly during periods of intense rainfall.

Forest Fire Risk Increasing

Authorities are also drawing attention to the growing risk of forest fires as temperatures continue to rise above seasonal norms.

The highest concern is focused on the southern Aegean coast and the western Mediterranean coastline, where hot and dry conditions could increase the likelihood of wildfires. Residents and visitors are being urged to remain cautious and avoid activities that could spark fires.
