ELON MUSK is no doubt one of the genius entrepreneurs of our era with unparalleled accomplishments as a businessman. When it comes to sustainability and renewable energy, the first name that comes to mind is undoubtedly Elon Musk, a most popular figure in the field of technology, globally.
Mr. Musk has also been a known figure followed by many Turks on the international and social media in admiration of his success stories. There are surely hundreds of thousands of people in this country as well, excited with the improvements his companies have achieved in technology in specific. This “distinguished person” paid a visit to Turkey on November 8, 2017 to meet with Turkey’s President for discussions on various issues.
The President accepted Elon Musk at the presidential palace in Ankara. Sharing the details of the interview with Elon Musk, the Presidential Spokesman stated that Elon Musk’s visit had to do with launching of Turkey’s Turksat 5A-5B satellites. SpaceX, one of Elon Musk’s companies is one of the suppliers for the deal made between Airbus and Turkey regarding the launch of the satellites.
Among other topics discussed in the meeting were electric cars, sustainable energy, and joint ventures in Turkey with companies such as Tesla and SpaceX owned by Elon Musk.
The spokesman also shared following information:
“The knowledge of Elon Musk and his team could be used for the newly developed domestic car, as well as the fact his preference to choose Turkey for the production of Tesla batteries or Tesla vehicles would be very valuable for us. Solar City project, another important energy project initiated by Elon Musk, could be the next step in Turkey’s energy production from solar energy. Turkey’s efficient sunbathing time is quite high and it will be very valuable in terms of our future to store and use this energy in a storable system.”
After the meeting, Mr. Musk visited Anıtkabir, mausoleum of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk the leader of the Turkish War of Independence and the founder and first President of the Republic of Turkey. He shared photos and messages on Instagram saying “I put flowers, three broken ribs, a pierced lung, and still he fought“. The photographs received more than 500 thousand likes.
