In the Kozan district of Adana, three earthquakes with magnitudes of 4.6, 4.5, and 4.0 occurred at one-minute intervals. Residents left their homes and took to the streets. Cracks appeared on the walls of some homes and businesses.
According to data from the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD), three consecutive earthquakes with magnitudes of 4.6 at 05:32, 4.5 at 05:33, and 4.0 at 05:34 occurred at a depth of 7.0 kilometers. Initial reports indicated no adverse events, while AFAD teams initiated field surveys.
Residents left their homes and went into the streets during the earthquake. Some residents also took refuge in parks. Yasin Yılmaz, who experienced the earthquake, said, “We were caught in the earthquake during morning prayer time. Due to our previous earthquake experience, we immediately went downstairs quickly. We also told our neighbors not to panic.”
MINISTER YERLİKAYA: FIELD WORK CONTINUES
In a statement on his social media account, Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya reported that there were no negative incidents as of now. Yerlikaya said, “Three consecutive earthquakes of magnitudes 4.6 (at 05:32), 4.5 (at 05:33), and 4.0 (at 05:34) have occurred in Kozan, Adana. The earthquakes, felt in neighboring provinces, have led AFAD and all related institutions to continue their field surveys. As of now, there is no negative situation.” Yerlikaya also stated that developments are being monitored and wished the affected citizens well.
