Turkish Airlines (THY), the airline that flies to the most countries worldwide, is expanding its network to include Sydney, the largest city in Australia. Sydney will also become the first Australian destination to have direct flights from the flag carrier.
Istanbul-Sydney flights to begin on December 4
Starting on December 4, 2024, Turkish Airlines will operate flights between Istanbul and Sydney four times a week. These flights will include a stopover in Kuala Lumpur and will be conducted using Airbus A350-900 aircraft.
This new route not only strengthens Turkish Airlines’ presence in the region but also fosters the growing ties between Turkey and Australia in tourism, trade, and cultural exchanges.
Commenting on the new destination, Turkish Airlines Chairman of the Board and Executive Committee, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Bolat, said: “We are delighted to announce the launch of our Sydney route, opening a new chapter for us on this continent. This route not only strengthens our flight network but also reinforces our presence in Australia by offering our guests Turkish Airlines’ renowned comfort and hospitality. Once we receive our aircraft capable of flying directly to this continent, Sydney will be our first direct destination in Australia without a stopover.”
