Tourism Minister Ersoy announces Turkey will insure incoming tourists against covid-19

Culture and Tourism Minister Mehmet Nuri Ersoy who invited the ambassadors of the 60 countries sending the most tourists to Turkey, to Antalya shared with them the measures taken by Turkey for safe tourism.

The Minister said Turkey would start offering a health insurance package covering Covid-19 as of July 1. He added it would be possible for tourists to buy concerned insurance policies at airports while buying tickets from contracted airline companies before passport control or else online and  via tour operators.

According to the info provided by the Minister fees for concerned insurance policies will be as follows:

– the policy covering health expenditure up to 3 thousand euros will cost EUR 15
– the policy covering health expenditure up to 5 thousand euros will cost EUR 19
– the policy covering health expenditure up to 7 thousand euros will be bought at EUR 23.

The Minister stated that Covid-19 test centers at tourist airports, Istanbul and Antalya to be in the first place, would be operational within 2-3 days and added that there would be isolated apartments or blocks for positive cases in every hotel.

He said, “Our guests will be able to stay in these rooms. If the treatment phase takes longer than the booking period, which is certainly a possibility, in this case our hotels will offer extra days free of charge. That goes for transit passengers as well”.
