The General Administration of Customs of China has announced the suspension of imports of some products after the visit of the Speaker of the US House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi to Taiwan.
The Chinese government has stopped part of trade with Taiwan in response to a visit by the Speaker of the US House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi to Taiwan. Taiwanese media also published news on Monday that China had banned food imports from more than 100 suppliers.
The General Administration of Customs of China said today that the import of frozen fish packages and some fish and fruits had been suspended due to the pesticide residue detected in the products and the corona virus, since last year.
In another statement, the Chinese Ministry of Commerce said that it had banned the export of natural sand in accordance with the provisions of the relevant law. However, the statement did not mention Pelosi’s visit and the possibility of possible economic sanctions in connection with it.
CHINA BANNED IT BEFORE
Beijing had previously targeted Taiwan’s agricultural industry over political issues. China had stopped importing pineapples, beeswax and sugar apples from Taiwan last year.
