Ballıca Cave, located in Tokat’s Pazar district, contributes to the region’s health tourism. Situated in Ballıca village, 26 kilometers from Tokat city center, the cave sits atop a hill at an altitude of 1,085 meters. It features fascinating stalactites and stalagmites that have formed over millions of years and is a popular destination for both domestic and international tourists.
Ballıca Cave is one of nature’s most striking examples, located 8 kilometers along the winding road from Pazar district towards Akdağ’s peak. With a length of 680 meters and a height of 94 meters, the cave boasts impressive formations such as stalactites, stalagmites, columns, wall and curtain dripstones, dripstone pools, and onion-shaped stalactites, making it one of the world’s richest and most beautiful caves in terms of geological formation.
Visitors are often astonished to learn that the sections of the cave that are closed to the public are even larger than the accessible areas. Another surprising feature is the constant temperature inside the cave, which remains between 18-19 degrees Celsius year-round. Adjacent to the cave entrance, at an altitude of 1,080 meters, there is a wooden café and rest facility built by the provincial government. Visitors can enjoy traditional foods like yogurt-based ayran and çökelek-filled dishes at the café, which harmonizes perfectly with the natural surroundings.
