Turkey announces bridges and highways will be free of charge during Ramadan Holiday

Due to religious Ramadan Holiday in Turkey, the highways and bridges under the responsibility of the General Directorate of highways will be free of charge.

According to the decree published in the official gazette with President Erdogan’s signature citizens using highways and bridges under the responsibility of the highways General Directorate (not to include those belonging to BOT transfer projects) from Saturday 23 May 2020 00: 00 until 07:00 on Wednesday, 27 May will not be charged.

This treat for the citizens is practiced almost every year and turned into a tradition with the purpose of making life easy for citizens by bringing down their travel expenses while visiting friends and neighbors.

However, at a  time when we are all warned to stay at home, it will be interesting to see how this will contribute to the prevailing situation in the country and how citizens will welcome this treat from the administration
