Dertour, one of Germany’s leading tour operators, announced that the most bookings this summer were made for Turkey. Dertour’s Product Manager, Sven Schikarsky, stated that “One in five German tourists chose Turkey,” and that this percentage is even higher for family vacations.
Between June and September, the company hosted 18% more German tourists in Turkey compared to the previous year, returning to pre-pandemic reservation levels. Additionally, the bankruptcy of FTI, Germany’s third-largest tour operator, was a contributing factor to the increase in bookings to Turkey.
TUI also confirmed the strong interest in holiday destinations in Turkey. TUI CEO Sebastian Ebel highlighted that Turkey has long been one of German tourists’ favorite holiday spots and noted that this trend is continuing robustly into 2024. Ebel emphasized that Turkey is popular not only for summer vacations but also as a destination for autumn and winter holidays.
