In April 2025, Turkey recorded the highest inflation in tourism-related spending (hotels + restaurants) among European countries.

According to data compiled by Turizmdatabank from Eurostat, Turkey was the European destination with the highest tourism inflation in April 2025, with an annual rate of 41.9%. North Macedonia followed with 18.2%.

Among Turkey’s main tourism competitors, tourism inflation stood at 4.8% in Spain, 1.9% in France, and 3.9% in Italy. Across the EU overall, tourism inflation was approximately 4.4%.

This means that although Turkey may appear “cheap” to Europeans in terms of exchange rates, the price increases in hotel and restaurant spending are significantly higher.
