Turkey’s Central Bank shares market’s expectation for dollar, interest rates and inflation

The Central Bank of Turkey (CBRT) announced the results of the July survey of market participants. The increase in the market’s expectation for the dollar and inflation continued in the Central Bank survey in July. Accordingly, the participants’ year-end dollar/TL expectation 99 in this survey period became 18.99 while it was 18.89 in the previous survey period.

The expectation of the exchange rate after 12 months was TL 20.70 and TL 20.92 respectively, during the same survey periods.

The participants’ expectation of the current month-end overnight interest rate (which consists of BIST Repo and Reverse Repo Market) was 14.00 percent during the previous survey period and during this survey period.

The CBRT’s one-week repo tender interest rate expectation for the end of the current month was 14.00 percent during the previous survey period and during this survey period.

INFLATION EXPECTATIONS RISE AS WELL

Respondents’ expectation for consumer inflation (CPI) at the end of the current year was 64.59 percent in the previous survey period, while it was recorded as 69.94 percent in this survey period.
